A Guide to Aces High P-47 Models

In Aces High, the P-47 tag says simply 'P47' and leaves it up to you to visually identify the model you are dealing with. Herewith I present a quick pictorial guide to help you know your enemy (or friend):

P-47-D11
The P-47-D11 model is the closest to a 'dogfighter' you're gonna get from this bunch. It's fast and tough, and has some serious firepower available, but don't try dancing with Spits down on the deck. It can be recognized by the olive drab paint scheme with white stripes on the tailplanes and white nose.

Firepower consists of eight 50 cals, or you can cut back to six 50's to save weight. It can carry either a 1/2k egg or a drop tank.

P-47-D25
The P-47-D25 model is olive drab with no distinctive markings making it a very plain plane. It is also fast, and sports a few more toys hanging from it designed to move mud or de-ack fields.

Firepower consists of the same gun set, and now you can haul either a drop tank or 1/2k egg on the centerline, as well as fire six 4.5" rockets from under the wings. You can add up two 1k eggs to the wing pylons, or two more drop tanks.

P-47-D30
The P-47-D30 takes its ground attack role very seriously. This one is easy to spot by it's polished metal finish with olive drab glare reducers and a very blue nose.

Firepower consists of the same gun options, and now you can hang all the stuff the D-25 can carry, but the rockets are now 5" HVAR and there's ten of them.
