(6/24/96) TELNET INSTRUCTIONS FOR AOL IF YOU HAVE A WINSOCK.DLL 1) find the winsock.dll should be in your dialer directory... if not do a find file on it through the start menue, or a search in the file manager found under file in file manager..... 2) with win95 if you are not hooked up to MSN (I realy think Muskies have more scence then that but have to be thourow :) ) Rename the file to winsock.old in the windows directory... WIN95 a) pull up explorer and goto windows directory b) find the winsock.dll file and click on it once wait 2 secs click on it again it will highlight it so you can change the name... c) in view options make sure that you show all files so you can see sysbckup dir under the windows dir...goto this dir and do same change to the winsock .dll there so it dosent change it back to the MS one the next time you start Win95.... d) copy you winsock.dll to windows directory and start you dialer then set AOL to TCP/IP for the network and then hi sign on...you should hook up at this point with no problems..... c) win 3.1 you can just copy the winsock.dll to the windows directory..... IF YOU DONOT HAVE A WINSOCK.DLL I have not been able to test this but it should work ok a) make a work directory and copy your *Sock.dll to it rename the file as discribed above..... to winsock.dll b) follow the steps in the above section..... if you have any winsock.dll errors after this copy the wwinsock.dll to the AOL directory then to the AW directory after you have AW downloaded.... Any other problems please let me know and i will see what we can do about it also with the telnet to AOL 3.0 make sure you have more memory than requierd witch is 8mgs...
